DETAILS

Halcyon, a 2001 Little Harbor 38, was purchased in 2015 by its current owner, an experienced, lifelong sailor who was seeking an easily handled power boat to be enjoyed with his wife in their senior years. Their primary interests were in hosting guests on short, coastal day trips around Buzzards Bay and the Elizabeth Islands and for longer trips to Cape Ann, Maine and the Connecticut shore. The couple’s goals for owning their Little Harbor 38 were a combination of safety at sea; seaworthiness; comfort and convenience for on-board living; as well as beautiful lines - all of which they found in Halcyon. Although jet drives became the predominant form of propulsion for the Little Harbor 38s, Halcyon features propellers for improved efficiency and better rough water performance. No jet drives! Tried and true technology with exciting performance.

Halcyon is an exquisite example of the sought after Little Harbor 38 with design pedigree from Ted Hood and renowned build quality from Little Harbor. The 38 is my favorite model in this well-known and appreciated line of boats.

Halcyon has received white glove care with above-and-beyond service and upgrades. The custom details throughout are incredible and include, among other things: Custom cabinetry, custom storage areas, updated electrical / battery systems, recent electronics, custom varnished teak helm, custom varnished teak cockpit bar with a dedicated storage drawer, custom davits, electric outboard battery storage with charging base.

Halcyon shows like a much younger boat and her performance is refreshing. Cruise in the 20's and enjoy wide open throttle at 31 knots. Quiet and smooth - all day long. 

This stately vessel will provide equal joy during a cocktail harbor cruise or a two-week extended cruise.

  • Hull And Deck

    The Little Harbor hull is built with knitted bi-directional E-glass with Kevlar outer skin to provide a rigid, strong, impact resistant hull. A vacuum bagged Corecell core adds extra stiffness and strength.


    The topsides of the hull are flag blue with a white double boot and there is a red anti-fouled bottom.


    Vinylester resin is used to provide osmosis protection.


    Lightweight composite stringers run the length of the hull to create a strong rigid underbody and engine mounting structure.


    Decks are white with complementing non-skid.


    Bridge deck and cockpit are laid teak.


    The windshield is custom framed varnished teak and has a centerline opening window.

    V-berth arrangement forward with filler to make a large double or filler in the lower position to provide a seat. Storage lockers and shelves outboard over berth.


    Fore and aft facing dinette to starboard amidship seats four and converts to sleep two.


    A full galley is opposite to port.


    Companionway on center and head is aft to port.


    The interior and the bridge deck are air conditioned.


    Forward on the bridge deck, the helm is to starboard and features a full array of electronics on custom teak overlay. Leather covered, stainless steel destroyer wheel. There is a chart table to port behind which is a comfortable settee/dinette arrangement that seats four to five and converts to sleep two.


    Aft to starboard is a bar top with lift-top locker concealing a built-in refrigerator/freezer. Custom slide-out garbage bin, and lockers are within the bar cabinet.


    The cockpit features a stern bench seat. Removable bar / table on custom stainless steel leg. Both the cockpit and bridge deck soles are laid teak.
